The Graduate Record Examinations is a standardized test that is an admissions requirement for many graduate schools in the United States and Canada. The GRE is owned and administered by Educational Testing Service or ETS. The main purpose of the test is for admissions to master’s and doctoral programs in various universities including a few that are in countries other than the US or Canada. Changes were made the GRE in September 2023 with the new version having few questions and of shorter duration. The older version of the test had 100 questions in total for Verbal and Quant, and the Analytical Writing Section had two essays including an Argument Essay. The newer version has a total of 54 questions and only one Issue Based Essay in the AWA section. The Argument Essay has been removed.
